Frequency Tuners are a Must
Pitch is an important part of any voice feminization training program, so every student will need a frequency tuner to monitor her voice pitch during practice sessions. These can be guitar tuners, smart phone apps, or any device which provides real time feedback about audio frequency.
Kathe Perez has a web page describing several options, in addition to her EVA smartphone apps which include tuners.
Low Cost Frequency Tuner Apps
- gStrings for Android ($4.99)
- TonalEnergy Tuner for iOS
- Transcribe from Seventhstring.com for Mac, Windows, and Linux
If you need help getting a tuner, or the hardware to run a tuner app, please contact Sheila Allen.
Recording Devices
Recording and playback are a critical tool in hearing how your voice sounds to others. There are plenty of devices which can do this, and many smartphone apps.
One of the most helpful apps we've found in this category is the free "Repeat Voice Recorder" for Android. While operating a single button, the operator can quickly vocalize and play back her voice instantly, with no need to navigate/rewind. It's a very fast feedback tool, almost like hearing an echo of your own voice.
